| NEW ID REQUIREMENTS FOR FLIGHTS DEPARTING FROM CANADA | PRINT | BACK |
Under the federal government's Passenger Protect program all airline passengers who appear to be 12 years of age or older will be required to present identification prior to boarding aircraft. The ID requirement under the Passenger Protect program is for one piece of valid government-issued photo ID that shows name, date of birth and gender, such as a driver's licence or a passport, or two pieces of valid government-issued ID without photo, at least one of which shows name, date of birth and gender, such as a birth certificate. The name on the identification must match the name on the boarding pass. Until September 18, 2007, inclusively, an exemption requiring only one piece of government-issued ID without photo will be granted to passengers traveling domestically who appear to be between 12 and 17 years of age. IMPORTANT – The above requirements are for Passenger Protect and DO NOT replace the entry requirements for the country of arrival. For more information, including a list of acceptable identification, please visit Transport Canada's website at www.passengerprotect.gc.ca or www.tc.gc.ca. |
