Some may argue that the rest of the world is only just discovering what the peaceful Maya discovered some 2,000 years ago: that this idyllic combination of soft sand beaches, dramatic coastline and lush vegetation makes for a perfect holiday setting.
The resorts along this corridor are primarily large, self-contained all inclusive hotels with every imaginable amenity close at hand. Most hotels have multiple restaurants and bars, large freeform swimming pools and ample lounge chairs and shade umbrellas both poolside and on the beach.
