Riviera Nayarit, which sweeps along the wild southern coastline of the Nayarit Coast, is made up of miles of soft sand beaches ideal for surfing, snorkeling and diving. You’ll be sharing these waters with dolphins, whales, giant turtles and, overhead, pelicans and frigate birds.
While the resorts here are luxurious, all inclusive style with every conceivable amenity, and you’ll want for nothing, you’ll be doing yourself a disservice not to explore some of the region’s sites including the fishing village of Playa San Francisco, known locally as San Pancho, where turtles lay their eggs on the beach, or the Alta Vista archaeological site, with its petroglyphs and stone amphitheatre, or Mexcaltitan, the legendary home to the ancient Aztec.
