About half way between La Romana and Santo Domingo, you’ll find the ultra laid-back town of Juan Dolio. In addition to its close proximity to the capital—which is a must-see during your stay in Juan Dolio—this fishing village provides a lovely selection of resorts and hotels, many of which are all inclusive, plus tranquil beaches, a few nice local seafood restaurants, bars and local artisan shops.

Also a former fishing village, its fabulous beaches and lagoon-like waters soon attracted the Santo Domingo jet set and, before long, Boca Chica was transformed into the Hamptons of the Caribbean. Today, Boca Chica offers a winning combination of fine dining, great resorts, busy clubs and, of course, exceptional beaches
